Our Center

Shining Light Prenatal Education’s Center is located at 3701 Butler St in the historic Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. We are right on the corner of 37th St and Butler St. There is free street parking available along Butler St, 37th St, Charlotte St (behind us) as well as all the other side streets.

There’s a handy BikePGH bicycle rack right out front, and a railing along the side of our building for additional bicycles.

Our Center is bright and open, with plenty of natural light coming in from our ample windows. Upon entering, you’ll find yourself in our cozy reception area. Here you’ll be able to hang your coat, remove your shoes and sign into your class or workshop. There is also a lending library of books on pregnancy, birth, parenting and yoga.

The main space is 1000 ft² open room where most of our classes and workshops are held. Here you’ll find the yoga mats, straps and block as well as the birth balls.  The TV is tucked away when not in use for the birth videos or movie nights.

The smaller space, known as “The Living Room”, is set farther back. It is accessible from the main space, and it also has its own separate entrance from 37th St.  All Community Groups and some of the smaller classes will be hosted here. The Living Room has a couch and chairs and therein also resides the kitchenette with the ever handy Keurig and Britta. Coffee, Tea and filtered water are always available to all of our students.

Set in the very back of our Center is the restroom, which is handicap accessible and has a changing table for your little ones.

Our Colors

Shining Light Prenatal Education’s colors are Red, Orange and Yellow. You’ll find them all throughout the Center. The colors represent the three lower chakras. These are all associated with fertility, pregnancy and birth.

The Center’s Etiquette

• Please remove shoes upon entering.
• Please silence all cell phones during all classes.
• Please arrive 10 minutes before class begins.
• Please stay for the entirety of your class. It is distracting to others when you leave early.
• Please do not wear strongly fragranced products – many pregnant women find this a trigger for nausea.

The Lending Library

Any current student may borrow a book from the Lending Library. Students may borrow one book at a time, for a period of up to two weeks. Students must leave a deposit in the amount of the price of the book as printed on the cover. Deposits will be in cash or check only. When the book is returned, the deposit will be returned in full.
