Fertility and Early Pregnancy

Fertility Yoga for Women

Fertility Yoga

  • Mondays, May 20 – June 10
  • 7:00 – 8:30 pm, Followed by tea and discussion
  • $95 a la carte (for the 4 week workshop)
  • This class is included in the SPARK your Fertility package. Its’ package discount price saves you $5 over the a la carte pricing.

Whether you are just beginning your journey to motherhood, or you’ve been struggling with infertility for a while, this class is for you.

In this gentle, restorative class we help you become more in tune with your physical body. The Asanas (physical postures) we use will focus on the muscles in your thighs, hips and belly to allow for freedom within the pelvic bowl.

There is also an emphasis on your heart center to allow you to better process the emotions that come with trying to conceive a baby, as well as emotional baggage we may carry that can prevent conception.  Fertility Yoga for Women allows us to address the emotional stress you may be going through in a supportive environment.

We will discuss the chakra system and how energy blockages can impede pregnancy.  By working with some specific Pranayama (breathwork) and meditation, we will help you get that energy flowing again and learn to be present with your body. By relieving emotional stress and opening the physical body we allow ourselves to open to the baby who is waiting for us.

This class is tailored for women of all body types and physical abilities. No prior yoga experience necessary.  It is safe and appropriate for you if you are going through egg retrieval, IVF or other procedures.  Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal in which to write.  There will be time for tea and discussion after class.

If you want to see more, please click here for a little video about Fertility Yoga.

I just want to thank you so much for the fertility (yoga) workshop you held last month. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and feel much more connected to my body now. I also just found out, that after 2 years of trying, I am PREGNANT! For the first time! … Thank you, thank you, thank you. I really believe that you helped me open my heart and soul to accepting a baby. Obviously it is still early, but I plan to attend your prenatal classes soon. ~ E. C. March, 2013

Conscious Conception

  • Sunday, June 23
  • 1:00 -2:30 pm
  • $40 a la carte (per couple)
  • This class is included in the SPARK your Fertility package. Its’ package discount price saves you $5 over the a la carte pricing.

Conceiving a baby is more than an ambitious and successful sperm joining with an egg. Both mother and father should be present in the process of conception. The parents hold the space to allow for baby’s soul to come through when baby is ready to begin its journey. Each parent opens one door, such that baby has a generous and loving space to enter.

In this workshop we will use yoga and meditation to balance hormones and emotions; clear out past experiences and nudge the mind to seek greater connection with the body. As a couple, we will prepare you to receive you baby with love and grace.

No prior yoga experience needed. Wear comfortable clothes and bring an open mind.

Prenatal Nutrition – or Healthy Eating for Two

  • Workshop will return to a more regular schedule in the fall. If you are interested in this class sooner, please contact us.
  • 1 hr 15 min
  • $35 a la carte
  • This class is included in the SPARK your Fertility package. Its’ package discount price saves you $5 over the a la carte pricing.
  • Class will be held in the “Living Room”. Please enter through the side door on 37th St.

Myths and rumors on what you should and shouldn’t eat while pregnant are everywhere. Should you eat fish, or avoid it? Should you consume dairy products, or avoid them?  It can leave you feeling overwhelmed and confused.  Add that to the often unhealthy or unusual cravings you can experience, and figuring out a healthy diet for yourself and your little peanut can cause a lot of stress.

Relax! Attend this workshop with Joni Sturgill, RYT, AADP.  In Easy, Healthy Eating for Two, Joni will give you simple ways to eat healthy, manage cravings, and figure out what works for you and your little one.

Joni will discuss myths and facts regarding prenatal eating, and how you can wade through this information to make the right choices for yourself.  She’ll also include simple steps to make sure you’re getting all the nutrition you need while pregnant, plus she’ll touch on portion sizes, meal planning, and simplifying your routine.  Joni makes healthy eating easy and fun! She’ll address the issue of cravings, and provide quick, healthy recipes, including ones that can be prepared in advance and frozen.  Joni even guides participants into a short visualization to help calm and soothe the nervous system – stress reduction is such an important part of health! There will be time at the end of class for questions.

Great Expectations – Or, I’m Pregnant, now what?

  • Monday, June 24
  • 6:30 – 8:00 pm
  • $25 a la carte (per couple)
  • This class is included in the NOURISH your Pregnancy package. Its’ package discount price saves you $5 over the a la carte pricing.

Two lines on a stick! My care provider doesn’t want to see me until I’m at least 8-12 weeks pregnant. Now what?

Welcome to the first trimester. We’ll ease your fears and set reasonable expectations for your first trimester, and beyond. Morning sickness, fatigue, weight gain, and “when will I show?” will all be discussed over the course of this class.

If you haven’t chosen a care provider yet, or have simply stuck with your regular OB-gynecologist, we will fill you in on your options. Choosing a care provider is one of the most important decisions you can make for your pregnancy. Appointments, tests, weight gain, the “big” ultrasound, maternity clothes, baby movements, uncomfortable sleeping… all of this comes with the second and third trimesters.

In this class we’ll let you know what to expect, and how you can cope with the minor, and not so minor, discomforts of pregnancy. We will also talk about pre-term labor, warning signs, and when to call your care provider. Then there’s the fun stuff of baby showers and registries. Ease into your pregnancy with grace and get ready to birth with confidence.

Signing with your baby is a great way to communicate with them before they become verbal.

Benefits of signing can include: promoting speech development, increasing bonding, engaging in more meaningful play and reducing frustrations between both parent and child.

Research shows that babies as young as six months old can remember a sign.  Around 8 months they can begin to sign simple words and gestures. It’s easy to incorporate signing into your daily routine and even include caregivers and other family members in the process.

This class will use American Sign Language (ASL) to teach simple and useful signs such as food, family and animal words along with other want and need signs.  You can use the interests of your baby to motivate them to sign and develop resources at home to support the signing.  Songs and games make the learning process even more fun.

Music Together

Did you know that all children are musical?  Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical ability? Experience Music Together® and find out how important–and how fun–your role can be! Our Music Together classes build on your child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement.  We’ll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so.

This is a Mixed Ages class. This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five—and through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience and any caregiver—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the child(ren) to class.

Join Dr. Kelly McNelis to prepare for life after the arrival of your new baby.  In this class, Kelly will share her best tips and tricks for balancing life with a newborn, getting back in shape, and prepping quick and healthy meals for your family.  All class participants will also receive a copy of Kelly’s cookbook, ’15-Minute Freezer Recipes’ so they leave class prepared to stock their freezer with healthy meals to enjoy after their baby’s birth.

This is the perfect class for pregnant women who want to be prepared for life with a new baby and new moms who want to connect with other moms who are trying to ‘balance it all.’

“Please tell all the other girls that I wish them the best of luck,
and I am truly grateful to have had the benefit of
your knowledge and passion about childbirth. Please keep in touch,
and if we’re lucky enough to have a second child, I’ll see you then!!”
